The Yocum Institute for Arts Education is bringing live youth theater to communities across Berks County this summer through its annual Summer Library Tour. This year’s traveling production, Hazel and the Empty Easel, will be performed at thirteen public libraries between July 14 and 25, in partnership with Berks County Public Libraries.
Written by Ryan Elmore, a rising senior at Albright College, the 30–35 minute play is designed for audiences of all ages and features a cast of young performers from the local community. Each performance will be followed by an opportunity to meet the cast and take photos.
“Yocum’s Summer Library Tour is the perfect embodiment of the Institute’s mission, combining education, entertainment, and community impact,” said Adam Void, Director of School & Community Engagement at Yocum and director of the production. “This year is particularly special because we can highlight the talent of a student at an advanced level, by working with Ryan Elmore and his mentor Matt Fotis at Albright College.”
Hazel and the Empty Easel tells the story of a young artist discovering the power of creativity through friendship. With messages centered on imagination, expression, and collaboration, the play aims to inspire audiences to embrace their own creative journeys.
All performances are free and open to the public. The full schedule is available on the Yocum Institute’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
