Fifth annual Camel Trot 5K and Fun Walk returns to Reading Regional Airport

Excitement is building as the Fifth Annual Camel Trot 5K and Fun Walk is set to take place on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Reading Regional Airport in Reading, Pennsylvania. The event, aimed at raising awareness about The Camel Project’s Stop Bullying – I Care bullying elimination initiative, promises a day of fun, fitness, and community support.

The Camel Trot 5K and Fun Walk, now in its fifth year, serves a dual purpose: it raises funds for The Camel Project’s important initiatives, such as the Certified Prevention Specialist program and various training programs, and it promotes an active and healthy lifestyle for participants of all ages.

Registration for the event opens at 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event, with the 5K race commencing at 10 a.m. The Fun Walk begins at 10:15 a.m. While same-day registration is available, organizers encourage participants to pre-register for the event. The entry fee for runners and walkers is $30, and online registration is accessible at thecamelproject.org/2023-camel-trot-5k.

The Camel Trot 5K course, designed to accommodate a wide range of participants, consists mainly of paved pathways and includes sections on Reading Airport property as well as lightly traveled roads in the vicinity. Winners in each age category will receive medals, with timing managed by Pretzel City Sports.

The event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of its sponsors. This year, Customers Bank, the Law Office of Robin J. Gray, Rothenberger Insurance Services – Erie Insurance, and Allison Heist of Zuber Realty have stepped up as key supporters.

All participants can enjoy water and light snacks to keep their energy up throughout the event. One of the event’s highlights will be the appearance of the Camel Caravan, The Camel Project’s 40-foot community advocacy vehicle, located on the apron adjacent to the airport terminal.

The Camel Project, a nonprofit organization based in Reading, PA, is a registered 501(c)(3) corporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This designation means that fees and donations for the event are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

The Fifth Annual Camel Trot 5K and Fun Walk promises to be a day of physical activity and community togetherness, all while supporting The Camel Project’s mission to combat bullying and promote safe and caring environments.
