Green Building Alliance presents free virtual roundtable on restoring and renovating buildings Jan. 13

Commercial property owners interested in upgrading or modernizing their buildings will have an opportunity to learn more about an alternative financing option during an upcoming virtual event hosted by Green Building Alliance.

The organization, along with its Resilient Reading team, will hold a free online roundtable titled “Restoring and Renovating Buildings with C-PACE Financing” on January 13, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event will focus on Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE), a financing program designed to help commercial property owners complete energy-related upgrades with little or no upfront cost.

C-PACE is enabled through state tax law and allows building owners to finance eligible clean energy and efficiency improvements through a long-term loan that is repaid via a special assessment on their property tax bill. The program is intended to support building rehabilitation projects, renewable energy installations, and system upgrades that improve overall building performance while spreading repayment over time.

According to event organizers, the roundtable will provide an overview of how the C-PACE program works, explain eligibility requirements, and highlight real-world projects that have already used the financing tool. The session is aimed at small business owners, developers, and property owners considering renovations or energy improvements but facing capital constraints.

The panel will include representatives from financing, development, and energy sectors. Scheduled speakers include Elaine Evosevic-Lozada of Sustainable Energy Fund, Garett Vassel of Optima Durant Group, and Shelah Wallace of Bayview Asset Management. Vassel is the owner of The Commodore, a mixed-use redevelopment project in Easton, which will be featured as a case study during the discussion.

Examples of projects that may qualify for C-PACE financing include whole-building insulation, geothermal heating and cooling systems, combined heat and power installations, smart building technologies, high-efficiency boilers and furnaces, and heat recovery systems.

The event will be held virtually via Zoom, with a link provided to registrants in advance. Registration is free and available through the Green Building Alliance website at www.gba.org/events.

Green Building Alliance works across Pennsylvania and beyond to promote high-performance, sustainable building practices. The organization manages Resilient Communities programs in Reading and Meadville and supports multiple 2030 Districts across the state, focusing on reducing energy use, water consumption, and carbon emissions through collaboration among public and private sectors.
