Grenade discovered buried in yard of Wyomissing home, police say

A Wyomissing homeowner doing yard work in the 400 block of Oley Street unearthed an old grenade Tuesday afternoon, according to Wyomissing police.

The grenade was found in the front yard of the house, as the homeowner was digging fence posts.

Police responded to the area around 12:30pm and closed the street as a precaution. Soon after, members of the Reading Police Bomb Squad could be seen digging in the area where the grenade was discovered.

Bomb Squad officers removed the grenade and placed it in a disposal box. The road was reopened shortly after.

Police on-scene did not indicate if there will be any further investigation.
