Helping Harvest has announced that its President, Jay Worrall, has been appointed as the new Board Chair of Feeding Pennsylvania. This prestigious role underscores Jay’s unwavering commitment to fighting hunger and ensuring food security across the state.
Jay Worrall has been the President of Helping Harvest since October 2019, where his visionary leadership has significantly expanded the organization’s reach and impact. Under his guidance, Helping Harvest has increased food distribution, strengthened community partnerships, and implemented innovative programs to support vulnerable populations.
Helping Harvest is a member food bank of Feeding America, the nationwide network of food banks, food pantries and community-based organizations in the United States working to create a future where no one is hungry.
“I am deeply honored to take on the role of Board Chair at Feeding Pennsylvania,” said Worrall. “Feeding Pennsylvania plays a crucial role in uniting food banks across the state to maximize their collective impact. I look forward to working with the dedicated team and board members to continue our mission of alleviating hunger and improving food access for all Pennsylvanians.”
Feeding Pennsylvania is a statewide nonprofit organization that partners with nine food banks to distribute millions of pounds of food annually to individuals and families in need. As Board Chair, Worrall will provide strategic oversight, advocate for policy changes, and foster collaboration among member food banks to enhance their collective efforts.
“We are pleased to welcome Jay Worrall as the new Chair of Feeding Pennsylvania’s Board of Directors,” said Julie Bancroft, Chief Executive Officer of Feeding Pennsylvania. “With his candid and future-focused vision, evident during his tenure as Vice Chair since 2020, we are excited about his leadership. Drawing from his extensive community-centric, non-profit management experience, we are confident that Jay will continue to drive our mission and support Pennsylvania’s families facing food insecurity.”
Worrall’s appointment comes at a critical time as Feeding Pennsylvania continues to navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. His expertise in nonprofit management and food distribution will be invaluable in guiding the organization through these unprecedented times.
Helping Harvest, formerly known as the Greater Berks Food Bank, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry by providing food and support to those in need.
