In late April, 98 seniors turned out to Wyomissing Restaurant and Bakery for Manor at Market Square’s Donate and Dine.
The senior living community in downtown Reading hosted the off-site event at the family restaurant to benefit Helping Harvest.
Manor at Market Square provided attendees with a complimentary lunch in exchange for donating nonperishable food items that garnered 342 pounds of food for the local food bank.
“Manor at Market Square’s donate and dine events have had a great turnout, and our team is grateful for the outstanding response. We always seek ways to support the senior population and our surrounding community members; Helping Harvest does both. Thank you to our attendees for their generosity” said Executive Director Kaitlin Nagle.
In its fight against hunger, Helping Harvest, the sole distribution center for food assistance in Berks and Schuylkill Counties, helped distribute over nine million pounds of food annually to more than 320 programs, which includes initiatives that help low-income seniors.
