Mayor Morán urges residents to keep snow out of city streets to protect public safety

Mayor Eddie Morán is reminding residents that placing snow from sidewalks, driveways, or private property into City streets is prohibited by City ordinance and creates serious safety hazards during winter storm operations.

“As our Public Works crews continue working around the clock to keep our roads passable, we need everyone’s cooperation,” said Mayor Morán. “When snow is pushed back into the street after plowing, it creates dangerous driving conditions, blocks emergency vehicles, and slows down our ability to keep roads clear for everyone.”

City officials report an increase in incidents where snow is being shoveled or blown into roadways following plowing operations. This practice can lead to:

  • Unsafe driving and pedestrian conditions
  • Reduced visibility and narrowed travel lanes
  • Delays for snowplows and emergency responders
  • Additional strain on City resources

Mayor Morán urges residents to place snow on lawns, landscaped areas, or designated property spaces — not into the street.

“Our crews are doing their part, and now we’re asking residents to do theirs,” Mayor Morán added. “Working together helps keep our neighborhoods safe and our city moving.”
