Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation has announced the cancellation of the Temple Halloween Parade and Haunted Hollow events.
The annual Halloween parade hosts over 75 groups traveling up Kutztown Road, including high school bands, car groups, fire companies, business floats, and costumed groups.
The Haunted Hollow Hayride is held in Jim Dietrich Park in October.
”After careful consideration by the Muhlenberg Board of Commissioners regarding the health and safety of everyone involved – our employees, volunteers, vendors and the attendees of our event – we have arrived, with much sadness, at the difficult decision to cancel the Temple Halloween Parade and the Haunted Hollow events this year” says a statement by the borough.
“While we know this is disappointing, we hope you can understand the steps we are taking to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”
Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, borough officials say they felt it was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation.
“We are very disappointed that we are unable to host this events, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today.”
