The Children’s Home of Reading has been awarded a $15,000 grant as part of The GIANT Company’s 2024 Make a Difference Challenge. As the only organization in Reading to receive this recognition, the Children’s Home of Reading will use the funds to support its mission of helping at-risk children and families in the local community through therapeutic, educational, and residential services.
This year’s Make a Difference Challenge awarded $250,000 to 24 nonprofit organizations, all dedicated to promoting healthier communities. “Our Make a Difference Challenge is about recognizing and assisting organizations who are going above and beyond to make a difference for their neighbors, and The GIANT Company is honored to support their work,” said Courtney Hopcraft, manager of community relations and charitable giving at The GIANT Company.
The Children’s Home of Reading was one of 12 organizations awarded the top-tier $15,000 grant. These funds will enhance the organization’s ability to provide essential services to vulnerable children, including mental health and trauma-informed care, as well as educational support aimed at fostering personal growth and development.
The GIANT Company’s initiative seeks to promote healthier futures for families across the region, with this year’s awards supporting a wide variety of projects that include expanding fresh produce distribution and creating opportunities for children with disabilities. The nonprofit recipients were selected based on nominations from GIANT Company team members and judged by company leadership.
For over 135 years, the Children’s Home of Reading has been a vital part of the community, offering programs that address the unique needs of children and families in Berks County. This recognition from The GIANT Company will enable the organization to continue its impactful work, helping to create healthier and more resilient futures for local children.
