The Holiday Toy Run rolls out Sunday, Oct. 19, to kick off CHOR Youth & Family Services’ 2025 Holiday Gift Drive, marking the 35th year of the community tradition.
Organizers expect hundreds of motorcycles, cars, and supporters to gather at Meadowbrook Country Club, 1153 Rick Road, Reading. Check-in runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon; participants are asked to bring a toy, gift card, or donation. Kickstands are set for 12:30 p.m., with a ride to Cardy Day Academy, 1040 Nicolls St., Reading.
“We had an overwhelming amount of interest this year—our committee grew to more than 20 members representing different clubs,” said Jill Troutman, Senior Director of Advancement and Marketing. “They really took charge—distributing boxes, collecting toys, and spreading the word. Thanks to their dedication, this could be our largest ride to date!”
According to CHOR, the Toy Run launches a season of giving that helps fulfill more than 20,000 holiday wishes for children and teens served by the organization’s programs across the region.
“This is such a wonderful time of the year, and it shows the commitment of the riders and the community to make wishes come true for those less fortunate,” Troutman said. “Our kids look forward to this event every year—they love seeing the bikes and meeting the riders. It’s an incredible reminder that kindness, compassion, and community still shine bright.”
If you can’t join the ride: “Be an Elf” CHOR is seeking volunteers to “Be an Elf” this season by shopping from wish tags, donating gift cards, or organizing Giving Trees at workplaces, churches, or schools. Each child in CHOR’s care selects four wishes valued around $25–$35 each. Elves are also needed to assist with gift check-in Dec. 3–13 as donations are collected and distributed to programs across the region.
