Hope Rescue Mission Gala brings community together, honors Jim Adams with David H. Roland Award

Hope Rescue Mission hosted its Annual Gala Sunday evening at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading, gathering community leaders, partners, and friends to celebrate stories of transformation and raise vital funds to support programs serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in Berks County.

The Gala featured a reception, dinner, raffles, and heartfelt testimonies from residents who shared how Hope Rescue Mission has helped them rebuild their lives. A highlight of the night was the presentation of the David H. Roland Award, which was given to Jim Adams of Adams and Associates for his steadfast commitment to the community and support of Hope Rescue Mission.

“The Gala was a powerful reminder of why we exist,” said Robert Turchi, CEO of Hope Rescue Mission. “Hearing firsthand from guests about their journeys of healing and renewal left a lasting impression on all of us. It was inspiring to see the community come together to champion this important work.”

Kate Alley, Executive Director of the LightHouse Women & Children’s Center, added: “Every story shared tonight was a testament to hope in action. The Gala not only raised critical funds but also highlighted the resilience of our guests and the compassion of our community. It was truly a night of celebration and impact.”

Funds raised from the Gala will directly benefit Hope Rescue Mission’s comprehensive services, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, workforce development, and supportive programs for women and children at the LightHouse.
