The IM ABLE Foundation has announced the overwhelming success of its annual BASH fundraiser held on March 16, 2024, at the Alvernia Plex. This year’s event not only celebrated achievements but also recognized the invaluable contributions of supporters while fostering empowerment for athletes of all abilities.
With an initial fundraising target of $200,000, the BASH surpassed all expectations by raising nearly $225,000. This remarkable achievement underscores the commitment of 783 individuals who generously contributed to the cause. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 600 attendees and the dedicated efforts of 40 volunteers, whose invaluable support helped make the BASH a resounding success.
As the presenting sponsor, Carim Eye & Retina Center exemplifies the community’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. On behalf of IM ABLE, Dr. Carim presented a $22,000 off-road handcycle to Jared Smith of Green Lane, PA who was paralyzed in a car accident nearly 20 years ago. Accomplished international para-triathlete Rodger Krause presented a racing handcycle to JoAnn Kenton of Harrington, DE who lost her leg in a freak accident while spectating a high school football game, further emphasizing IM ABLE Foundation’s commitment to providing essential resources to athletes with disabilities.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Brass Pocket and SanCo Sound & Light, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the event. Renowned emcee Sir Hamilton Newton added his signature charm and wit to the proceedings, guiding attendees through an evening of celebration and inspiration.
Highlighting the evening were the prestigious Motivator of the Year Award presentations, honoring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to creating inclusive fitness opportunities. This year’s recipients, Yeager Supply, Inc., and Beth Kase, were lauded for their unwavering commitment and inspirational leadership in fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment.
Yeager Supply, Inc. was recognized for their outstanding generosity and philanthropic spirit, embodying the legacy of Ed and Margaret Yeager’s altruistic contributions. Beth Kase, celebrated for her indomitable spirit and determination, continues to inspire others with her remarkable achievements as an adaptive athlete, proving that with the right mindset and support, anything is possible.
Regarding the success of this year’s fundraiser, Brian Sutherland, Director of Development, commented, “Chris Kaag started IM ABLE in 2007 and this whole community has rallied behind his vision to include people with disabilities on the benefits of exercise.
