United Way Distributes Safety and Personal Care Products to Nonprofits

During these uncertain times, local companies and nonprofits are partnering in creative ways to provide help and relief to our community’s nonprofits and those most in need. In recent weeks, EthoSource, LLC donated over 40,000 masks throughout Berks County.

“When COVID-19 struck I was able to procure a significant number of masks through my business contacts overseas and initially ran all over town to deliver the masks to nonprofits,” said John Gallen, President of EthoSource.

“Then, my wife, Lisa, and I determined the best way to ensure the masks were getting to those that needed them the most was to partner with United Way for them to distribute. With their help, they then shared 15,000 of those masks to over 20 nonprofits.”

Thanks to the community’s ongoing support, United Way purchased other safety items such as latex gloves, hand gel sanitizer and other sanitizing products from Singer Equipment, headquartered in Elverson, to provide to nonprofit employees serving on the front lines.

Morgantown-based PhytogenX, Inc. has donated nearly 15,000 individual items, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturizer, which will be shared with nearly 20 different Berks County nonprofits as part of a United Way-coordinated distribution event taking place on Thursday morning.

The company manufactures personal care beauty products. “It’s important for individuals and companies to come together and do what we can to help those most impacted by the pandemic,” shared Julie Panzner, President and owner, PhytogenX. “We’re proud to lend a helping hand and provide the products we produce to help keep our fellow residents safe.”

“Donations like those from EthoSource and PhytogenX make all the difference in the world, especially during this crisis. Scores of nonprofit staff members are working with and helping those impacted by the pandemic. Everyone’s safety is paramount. We’re so thankful for this support,” said Tammy White, President.
