The leadership team and board of directors at Olivet Boys & Girls Club have made the decision that summer camp will not begin as scheduled on June 22nd.
While the staff and leadership team are disappointed that clubs will not be opening as soon as they would like, the organization is confident that this is the right way to proceed given the current status of the pandemic in Berks County.
While the status of Olivet summer camp as a whole is still unknown, the leadership team is in constant communication with community partners and county officials to gather as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision as the summer months approach.
The organization is setting a possible opening date for summer camp for July 6th; however this is dependent on the trajectory of the pandemic and evolving CDC guidelines.
The organization will continue to review the situation and adjust plans as needed. Olivet will also continue their food distribution and virtual programming efforts moving forward into the summer, and potentially longer.
“The mission of the Olivet Boys & Girls club is to serve youth across Berks County, especially those who need us the most. During this crisis, with the help of our community partners, we are honored to be able to provide much needed relief to families through food distribution efforts and virtual programming. We are all in this together, and we will continue to do our part to serve youth and the community.” Chris Winters, President and CEO
