7/14/20 – Park officials announced today that access to the Union Canal Trail via Gring’s Mill Park will be restricted on Thursday, July 16, 2020. The bridge at Gring’s Mill dam will be closed to the public.
Berks Parks Department is encouraging the public to use alternative parking areas to access the trail at Stonecliffe, Berks Leisure Area, Red Bridge Recreation Area or the Berks County Heritage Center.
7/11/20 – Berks County will begin work on paving projects for parking lots at two county parks starting next week.
Paving will begin at Gring’s Mill on Monday, July 13, 2020 and continue until July 21, 2020 while paving at Berks Leisure will last from July 20, 2020 until July 24, 2020.
Visitors to the Gring’s Mill Recreation Area located at 2083 Tulpehocken Road, Wyomissing, should use the rear exit gate along Tulpehocken Road to enter the park during the paving period. Signage will be posted to direct them to the parking areas that will be available during this time.
The Berks Leisure Area is located at 1901 Tulpehocken Road in Wyomissing. The parking lot will be closed to all patrons during the paving period with no alternate parking for the area.
Visitors can park at Gring’s Mill or the Red Bridge Recreation Area along Tulpehocken Road or the Heritage Center on Red Bridge Road to access the Union Canal Trail during this time.
