Reading Public Library has announced that Paul and Karen Oxholm have been named as the Campaign Chairs of the library’s 2025 Annual Appeal.
Karen and Paul Oxholm have been dedicated volunteers and supporters of numerous Berks County nonprofits including the Reading Area Community College, the United Way of Berks County, and the Reading Musical Foundation.
When they were asked why they were willing to Chair the Annual Appeal, Karen said, “As a librarian, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that libraries can have on students of all ages. The Reading Public Library plays a critical role as a community learning and media center for all of Berks County, and all of us benefit from the tremendous resources that are made broadly available through their diverse educational programming.”
The goal for the 2025 campaign is $65,000. The donations from the campaign will directly sustain the library’s daily impact, promising free programs and services for all ages such as early literacy programming, after school activities for teens, workforce development, senior outreach, and much more.
“Paul and Karen embody the spirit of community leadership that keeps our library strong,” said Carolyn Shultz Spano, Director of Advancement and Communications. “We are so grateful for their dedication, and we hope their example inspires others to join them in sustaining the daily programs and services our community depends on, especially as the future of public funding remains uncertain.”
