The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On January 6, 2026, Domino’s #4720, located at 8537 Allentown Pike, Blandon, was inspected and found with the following violation: Thermometer for ensuring proper food temperature on the outside of the door is not functioning properly in the walk-in cooler there is no secondary thermometer in the walk-in.
On January 6, 2026, Cherry’s Jamaican Delight, located at 711 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Side door located in the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap at the bottom and does not protect against the entry of pests.
On January 6, 2026, BK Fuel Inc., located at 928 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible in the ice cream freezer. Replace and input new ceiling tiles behind the counter.
On January 6, 2026, Annamarie’s on Main, located at 339 West Main Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violations: Cleaned and sanitized utensils (forks/spoons) located in the front area, are stored with food contact surface exposed to hand contact when retrieved by food employees. Corrected. The ice chute at the ice machine and some of the soda nozzles, food contact surfaces, were observed to have residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
On January 6, 2026, A Plus Mini Market, located at 844 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Expired milk held in the cooler. Cooked hot foods not received at proper temperature, hot held at 135°F or above.
On January 7, 2026, Rosa Grocery Store, located at 139 South 6th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Potentially hazardous ready-to-eat food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the refrigerator, is not being date marked.
On January 7, 2026, Giant Food Store #6446, located at 4655 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed a 20 oz container of dry baby formula offered for sale beyond the Use By date of Jan 1 2026. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Observed a mop sitting in dirty water in a mop bucket at the back mop dump area. Corrected. Observed an accumulation of old food debris on the floor under equipment in the bakery. Some cooked chicken was held at 104 °F, in the deli area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Only one shelf section of the hot hold display case was affected. All others were maintaining temperatures of approximately 200°F. A service ticket was initiated for this unit and the containers of chicken were removed from the affected shelf. There is an accumulation of dirty standing water in one of the floor drains in the deli area (near the sushi area).
On January 7, 2026, Blue Marsh Restaurant & Pizzeria, located at 5027 Bernville Road, Bernville, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed walk-in cooler ceiling and shelves with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and debris on non-food contact surfaces. Interior kick plate of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have organic residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher in the bar area was 10 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Please call for service and discontinue use of this dish machine until service is completed and sanitizer is compliant. Floor in the walk-in freezer area is made of tile and is missing tiles / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Observed clean food equipment and/or utensils in clean dish storage area, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting). Corrected. Wall in the backroom next to back door, has a hole, and in need of repair. Back door located in the backroom of the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap on the side of the door and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
On January 7, 2026, Birdsboro Memorial VFW Post #411, located at 321 Main Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violation: Raw chicken was stored above produce and dressings in the walk-in cooler. Corrected.
On January 8, 2026, V & S Sandwich Shop, located at 1621 Lancaster Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food contact surface of the can opener is not smooth and easily cleanable. Observed the can opener blade to have a chip. Observed six plastic lids used for prep containers to be broken. Corrected. Freezer door handles on the back 2-door freezer observed with a buildup of old food residue. Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodents/insect activity in basement areas. No live activity was observed. Firm has a pest control program. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed leaking at the handwash sink at the front service line.
On January 8, 2026, Simran Indian Cuisine, located at 163 Main Street, Kutztown, was inspected and found with the following violation: Wall in the dish area of the food facility is observed with excessive dust build up, and in need of cleaning. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required. Food facility does not have available chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
On January 8, 2026, Fresh Breakfast – Lunch, located at 614 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: The hot water used for sanitizing in the mechanical warewashing machine did not reach 165°F for a stationary rack machine. Facility will have the machine serviced and will be sanitizing all dishes in the 3-compartment sink until it is operating properly. An open employee’s beverage container was observed in the cooking area. Corrected. Some lights are not shielded or shatter proof in the kitchen area. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the 2-door refrigerator near the back door. Corrected.
On January 8, 2026, Barley Mow Craft Beer House, located at 719 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Walls at the 3-compartment sink and dishwasher are damaged and are in need of repair. Cleaned and sanitized utensils located in the upstairs server area, are stored with food contact surfaces exposed to hand contact when retrieved by food employees. The handwash sink in the upstairs kitchen area was blocked by several items and was not accessible at all times for employee use. Corrected.
On January 9, 2026, Vincenzos Ristorante Italiano & Pizzeria, located at 1333 Old Swede Road, Douglassville, was inspected and found with the following violation: Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the salad Bain Marie, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Multiple foods, a refrigerated, ready to eat time temperature control for safety food in the walk-in cooler and Bain Marie area, was date-marked by the facility, but was beyond the 7-day use or sell by date and requires discarding. Corrected. Observed deeply scored cutting boards on cookline not resurfaced or discarded as required. Multiple foods in the Bain Marie, walk-in cooler and dry storage area stored open with no covering. Corrected. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored not inverted. Corrected. Multiple food ingredient storage containers, in the downstairs prep area, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Corrected. Observed clean food equipment and/or utensils in the storage area, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting). Observed in-use knives and /or cleavers stored between table edges or between tables, an area not easily cleanable & sanitized. Corrected. Observed food stored directly on the floor in walk-in cooler area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
On January 9, 2026, Uncorkd, located at 622 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: The interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
On January 9, 2026, The Heritage Restaurant, located at 6016 Morgantown Road, Morgantown, was inspected and found with the following violation: Mops are not being hung to air dry. Two food ingredient storage containers, in the storage areas, is not labeled with the common name of the food. Corrected. Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the side storage area, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Corrected. Food employees observed on cookline not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Corrected. Observed deeply scored cutting boards on the cookline and salad Bain Marie not resurfaced or discarded as required. Observed clean food equipment and/or utensils in storage area, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting). Corrected. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed drain leaking at the 3-bay sink. Nonfood contact surface of the back refrigerator door handle is broken and repaired with duct tape, a surface that is not approved for repairs. Observed clean food equipment with datemarking stickers still on the outside surface. Corrected. Observed single use items not stored inverted. Corrected.
On January 9, 2026, Rooted & Grounded Cafe, located at 1400 Lancaster Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Multiple foods, a refrigerated ready to eat time/temperature control for safety food, in the back refrigerator area, was not compliant with datemarking by being labeled with a discard or use by date of no more than 7 days, and requires discarding. Corrected. Food Facility is using / offering for sale foods prepared in an unapproved private home. Honey being offered for sale from a home processor that is not licensed. Product also did not have any labeling. Corrected.
On January 12, 2026, Turkey Hill #308, located at 320 North Furnace Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed three pints of low-fat chocolate milk offered for sale beyond the sell by date of 1/7/2026. Corrected.
On January 12, 2026, The Valley Bar & Grill, located at 4741 Penn Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Soap was not available at the bar, prep, and kitchen handwash sink. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the restroom. bar area, and cookline area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Paper towel dispenser needed at the bar, prep, and kitchen handwash sink.
On January 13, 2026, Walmart Supercenter #5239, located at 567 Route 100 North, Bechtelsville, was inspected and found with the following violation: 19 Severely dented, distressed canned items observed in retail sales floor food aisles and intended for use or sale in the food facility. Corrected, the cans were removed from the salesfloor. Non-food contact surfaces of fan guards in, meat, meat prep area and the produce walk in coolers were not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dust and debris. Please increase the frequency that these are cleaned to avoid build up. Several insect control devices in the bakery, produce production, and deli areas were observed unplugged. Please plug in all insect control lights. Ceiling and vent in the bakery back room of the food facility was observed with excessive dusty and in need of cleaning.
On January 13, 2026, Sunoco #40115, located at 722 North Route 100, Bechtelsville, was inspected and found with the following violation: Monterey Jack chicken taquito was held at 122°F, in the hot hold roller area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Corrected, taquitos will be reheated and roller was turned up. Case of chicken bites in the walk-in freezer was observed with excessive ice buildup from drops of liquid from the fan guard/compressor unit. Please move cases of food away from any drops falling from the fan guard/compressor to protect them from potential contamination. Food facility is using an approved non-public water system, but does not have current laboratory testing results for water potability.
On January 13, 2026, Nino and Sons Pizza, located at 301 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Commercially processed ready to eat food, located in the bain marie, and held more than 48 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Frozen Food in the freezer area stored open with no covering. A food employee was observed touching bread – a ready to eat food – with bare hands. Food employee observed in the food prep area not wearing gloves. Observed frozen food stored directly on the floor in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing.

On January 14, 2026, Works at Wyomissing & Building 24 & Slick’s Cafe, located at 1109 Bern Road, Wyomissing, was inspected and found with the following violations: Some working containers of cleaner / sanitizer were stored on the same shelf with clean food equipment in multiple areas. Corrected. Observed dried food residue on some surfaces of the milkshake mixer unit in the Works kitchen. Some foods are served raw or undercooked to the customer’s request; however, a written consumer advisory (on the menu, table tent, or placard) is not provided to the consumer. The Bldg 24 menu is being reprinted today and the Works menu will be reprinted by Friday. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the 2-door Continental refrigeration unit in the Bldg 24 kitchen. Corrected. Soda guns at the Works bar and the banquet bar, food contact surfaces, were observed to have residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
On January 14, 2026, Santurce Deli Grocery, located at 952 Penn Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodents/insect activity in front counter and rear areas, but facility does not have a pest control program.
On January 14, 2026, New York Bagelry, located at 2720 Penn Avenue, West Lawn, was inspected and found with the following violations: Facility listed as out of compliance. Observed wet wiping cloths on counters in drive through area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Food employees observed throughout the facility, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Scoops in several bins of assorted bagel toppings (poopy seed/everything bagel seasoning) observed with caked on product. Deli meat (turkey and corned beef) stored open with no covering in reach in refrigerator. Ceiling in the prep area, has openings and need replaced/repaired. Observed bagel cart covers in proof box area, with an accumulation of food residue, debris. Floor throughout the food facility is dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning. Observed heavy buildup of product (assorted bagel toppings) throughout. Working containers (pink dish soap) in ware wash area, and taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical.
On January 14, 2026, New Holland Food Mart, located at 1660 New Holland Road, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Severely dented, swollen, distressed canned items observed in market are and intended for use or sale in the food facility. Corrected. Observed two 16oz milks for sale past the manufacturers sell be date of Dec 2 2025. Corrected. Empanadas were held at 69°F, in the hot hold unit area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry. Observed apparent rodent droppings in the cabinets under the hot hold units. Corrected.

On January 14, 2026, 7-Eleven Store #40241J, located at 1547 Lancaster Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed the non-food contact surface of the coffee maker to have a build of old food residue. Corrected. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. Mops are not being hung to air dry.
On January 15, 2026, Vinnie’s Pizza, located at 207 North Furnace Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility has an employee that has taken food safety training program; however, the food safety program was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program. Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the kitchen area. Corrected. Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available in the small Coke refrigerator used to store containers of dressing. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration at the 3-compartment sink. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the kitchen area. Corrected.
On January 15, 2026, Dunkin Donuts #349865, located at 3672 Mountain Road, Hamburg, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed 3 cases of coffee beans stored directly on the floor in the dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Corrected. 2 employees in the prep/service area were observed with several bracelets on their wrists. Corrected. 7 vents in the prep/dry storage area of the food facility were observed with excessive dust build up, and in need of cleaning.
On January 15, 2026, American Legion Post 626, located at 445 East Main Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violation: The deflector in the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
