The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On December 22, 2025, Turkey Hill Minit Market #061, located at 3057 Saint Lawrence Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed a significant accumulation of liquid residue on the floor under the slushy and soda dispensers. Observed several containers of milk offered for sale beyond the sell-by dates: 5 pints white (12/15/25), 2 half gallons chocolate (12/21/25), and 1 half gallon white (12/19/25). Corrected.
On December 22, 2025, Esposito’s Italian Restaurant, located at 1540 Friedensburg Road, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed an accumulation of ice inside the wing bain marie unit. A working thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available in the bain marie unit used for wings. Take-out containers in the kitchen not stored inverted to protect the food contact surface. Corrected.
On December 22, 2025, Dunkin Donuts #352111, located at 2458 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Scoop at the ice bin in the front area is being stored in a dirty holder. Corrected. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the front area. Corrected. Food employee personal belongings (jacket, purse, drink bottle) observed stored on a shelf with food and single service items in the back area, although lockers are provided. Corrected.
On December 22, 2025, Domino’s #4749, located at 3801 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Wall in the restroom is damaged and is repaired with white duct tape. Tape is not an acceptable repair material. Observed dirt/debris on the floor in the corners of the dry storage areas. Floor in the 3-compartment sink area is cracked/damaged and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Side door located in the back area of the food facility has a gap along the side and does not protect against the entry of pests.
On December 22, 2025, Domino’s #9090, located at 15100 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility has an original certificate posted, but the location is not conspicuous for public viewing. Please post in public view not the backroom. 2 spray bottles in the front counter area, used for storing chemicals, cleaners taken from bulk supplies, were not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.
On December 23, 2025, Salino’s Stand, located at 10 South Summit Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the cold hold cases, is not being date marked. Observed plastic cover for rolls that is cracked and in need of replacement.
On December 23, 2025, Rise-N-Shine Cafe, located at 241 Godfrey Street, Bethel, was inspected and found with the following violations: New food facility in operation more than 90 days and has not employed a certified food employee as required. Observed several cases of food stored directly on the floor in the walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Shelled eggs observed on top and middle shelf in walk in cooler above other foods. Please move raw shelled eggs to the bottom shelf. Eggs are served raw or undercooked to the customer’s request such as over easy; however, a written consumer advisory (on the menu, table tent, or placard) is not provided to the consumer.
On December 23, 2025, Let’s Taco Bout It Mexican Grill, located at 616 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the small under counter refrigerator in the back area. Scoop being stored in the ice machine with handle buried beneath the ice. Corrected. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
On December 23, 2025, Lally’s Cakes & Sweets, located at 10 South Summit Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the refrigerators, is not being date marked.
On December 23, 2025, Four Points Sunoco, located at 4992 Four Points Road, Womelsdorf, was inspected and found with the following violations: The facility is listed as out of compliance. Food facility is using an approved non-public water system, but does not have current laboratory testing results for water potability. Two whole milk pints were observed in the creamer refrigerator and dated for sell by Dec. 07, 2025. Two half gallon whole milks were observed in the walk-in cooler with a sell by date of Oct. 09, 2025, and two half gallons with sell by dates of December 18, 2025. Corrected. Sandwiches, a refrigerated ready to eat time/temperature control for safety food, in the cold hold display, was not compliant with datemarking by being labeled with a discard or use by date of no more than 7 days and requires discarding. Lights are not shielded or shatter proof over the chicken prep and cook areas. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands.
On December 23, 2025, Domino’s #4847, located at 1 West Penn Avenue, Robesonia, was inspected and found with the following violation: Old food residue and towels were observed in the handwash sink at the front counter pizza prep area indicating uses other than handwashing.
On December 23, 2025, Burger King #0282, located at 4890 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Working thermometer for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available in the small refrigerator under the coffee machine. Observed an accumulation of dirt/debris on the floor under equipment/shelving in the drive-thru and kitchen areas. Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed plastic taped to the sprayer hose at the 3-compartment sink. Manager stated that a new hose was ordered and they expect to be receiving it soon.
On December 23, 2025, Bulgogi Korean BBQ & Thai, located at 4725 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the front area. Corrected. Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the front area. Corrected. Tableware for customer self-service is not displayed so that only handles are touched by consumers and employees. Corrected.
On December 28, 2025, Philly Pretzel Factory, located at 5334 Allentown Pike, Temple, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food employees observed in prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Certificate not displayed.
On December 28, 2025, 5th Street Diner, located at 5340 Allentown Pike, Temple, was inspected and found with the following violations: Raw animal foods was stored above ready to eat foods in the cook’s refrigerator. Corrected on inspection. Mashed Potatoes were held at 117.4°F, in cook’s area, rather than 135°F or above as required. Corrected on inspection to > 135°F.
On December 29, 2025, Holiday Inn Express, located at 2389 Bernville Road, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Several containers of liquid eggs were observed thawing at room temperature in a plastic bin, which is not an approved thawing method. These need to be thawed in a refrigerator. Containers will be put in the refrigerator.
On December 30, 2025, Plaza Azteca Wyomissing, located at 955 Woodland Road, Wyomissing, was inspected and found with the following violations: Ceiling in the prep area of the food facility is dusty, and in need of cleaning. Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler and refrigerator at the server line, is not being date marked. Corrected. Refrigerated ready to eat, and time/temperature control for safety foods are not being date marked correctly by the facility. Labels state USE BY date and the date that is being written is the prep date. Must have the use by date on the label so everyone knows when the items need to be discarded. Corrected, items are being date marked with the actual use by date during this inspection. Floor in the cookline, server area, dish and prep area is made of tile and grout that is cracked / roughened / missing grout and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Wall in the prep area, has a hole where the tile has been chipped, and in need of repair. Back door located in the prep area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals. Please repair or replace the door sweep to ensure no gap is present.
On December 30, 2025, Flanagan’s Pub, located at 41 West Lancaster Avenue, Shillington, was inspected and found with the following violations: Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the Bain Marie and Walk-In Cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Multiple foods, a refrigerated, ready to eat time temperature control for safety food in the Bain Marie and Walk-in cooler area, was date-marked by the facility, but was beyond the 7 day use or sell by date and requires discarding. Corrected. Mops are not being hung to air dry.
On December 30, 2025, Corner Food Mart, located at 3675 Pricetown Road, Fleetwood, was inspected and found with the following violations: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in hot holding equipment and small refrigerator holding sandwiches and milk. Sandwiches that are thawed from frozen, a refrigerated ready to eat time/temperature control for safety food, in the refrigerator area, was not compliant with datemarking by being labeled with a discard or use by date of no more than 7 days and requires discarding. Corrected. Food facility does not have available Chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate chlorine sanitizer concentration. Corrected.
On January 3, 2026, New Happy Garden, located at 4447C North 5th Street, Temple, was inspected and found with the following violations: Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Two bulk food bin exteriors observed to have food residual. Observed wet wiping cloths in food prep area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. Mops are not being hung to air dry.
On January 3, 2026, Homemade Cravings LLC, located at 4900 Kutztown Road, Temple, was inspected and found with the following violations: Observed personal phones in food prep areas. Raw eggs were stored above ready to eat foods in the refrigerator. Corrected on inspection. Utensils for food prep observed stored with food contact component of utensil stored up instead of handles up.
On January 3, 2026, Dino’s Wings & Things, located at 5306 Allentown Pike, Temple, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food dispensing utensils in waffle toppings observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Food dispensing utensils in bulk food containers (sugar/flour) observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food. Corrected on inspection. On January 5, 2026, Tosco Pizza, located at 6889 West Penn Avenue, Wernersville, was inspected and found with the following violations: Old food residue and utensil (spoon) were observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing at the cookline hand sink. On January 5, 2026, R & R Deli Grocery, located at 700 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Commercially processed ready to eat food, located in the deli cooler, and held more than 48 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened.
On January 5, 2026, Paolo’s Pizza & Restaurant, located at 2480 Lancaster Pike, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violation: Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodents/insect activity in the kitchen areas. No live activity observed, facility has a pest control program in place.
On January 5, 2026, Nirvana Indian Bistro, located at 1137 Berkshire Boulevard, Wyomissing, was inspected and found with the following violations: Scoop being stored in the ice machine with handle in direct contact with the ice. Corrected. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Certificate posted expired 4/14/2021. Some of the shelves in the walk-in cooler and some plastic storage bins have an accumulation of dirt/debris. Soap was not available at the handwash sink at the back of the kitchen area. Corrected.
On January 5, 2026, Emily Mini Market, located at 349 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Expired baby cereal on the shelves. Hood is need of inspection. removal of residential deep fryer, only commercial fryer allowed to be used in facility. Cooked food was held at 102 °F, in the hot held area, rather than 135°F or above as required. 3 compartment sink is clogged and in need of service. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible in ice cream freezer. The handwash sink in the food prep area being used as a food preparation sink as evidenced by observed employee rinsing food in the sink.
On January 6, 2026, Cherry’s Jamaican Delight, located at 711 Penn Avenue, West Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Side door located in the kitchen area of the food facility has a gap at the bottom and does not protect against the entry of pests.
On January 6, 2026, Annamarie’s on Main, located at 339 West Main Street, Birdsboro, was inspected and found with the following violations: Cleaned and sanitized utensils (forks/spoons) located in the front area, are stored with food contact surface exposed to hand contact when retrieved by food employees. Corrected. The ice chute at the ice machine and some of the soda nozzles, food contact surfaces, were observed to have residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.
On January 6, 2026, A Plus Mini Market, located at 844 North 13th Street, Reading, was inspected and found with the following violations: Expired milk held in the cooler. Cooked hot foods not received at proper temperature, hot held at 135°F or above.
