The Olivet Boys & Girls Club has announced that CEO Rick Perez has been named the next Head Coach of Reading High School Basketball. While Perez will take on this new role, his first and primary responsibility remains leading Olivet Boys & Girls Club in its mission to serve the youth of Greater Reading.
The coaching role at Reading High School will be part-time, complementing his leadership at Olivet. Perez and the Olivet Board of Directors have had thoughtful discussions and are aligned that his top priority continues to be advancing Olivet’s mission and strengthening its programs.
“As any good coach knows, success is built on strong teams and strong benches,” Perez said. “I am fortunate to have a talented coaching staff that I will be putting in place at Reading High, and I’m equally proud of the dynamic leadership team at Olivet. Together, these teams allow me to serve young people at the highest level both on and off the court.”
Olivet Board Chair Sue Perrotty expressed the organization’s enthusiasm: “We are thrilled that Rick is taking on this additional coaching role at Reading High School. This is a natural connection for Olivet, as it allows us to reach and engage even more young people in our community. We know Rick’s leadership will continue to strengthen Olivet while also inspiring student-athletes at RHS. And balancing a full-time job while coaching part time is a slam dunk for Rick having successfully accomplished this prior to his joining Olivet as CEO.”
Perez has a long history with Reading High basketball, having previously led the team to multiple State Championships, and is widely respected for his ability to mentor young athletes both as players and as individuals. His dual leadership roles reflect Olivet’s commitment to empowering youth, building community, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
