State police offering free car seat checks during National Child Passenger Safety Week

The Pennsylvania State Police will be increasing enforcement of seat belt and child passenger restraint laws in recognition of National Child Passenger Safety Week, which runs from Sunday, September 21, 2025, through Saturday, September 27, 2025.

As part of the weeklong initiative, PSP Reading, located at 600 Kenhorst Blvd. in Reading, will host a series of free car seat safety checks. The checks are designed to ensure that child safety seats are properly installed and being used correctly.

Car seat checks will be offered on the following dates and times:

  • Sunday, September 21: 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Monday, September 22: 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 23: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 24: 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 25: 10:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 26: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

No appointment is required, and all services are free.

The program is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the importance of properly securing children in vehicles and to reduce injuries and fatalities caused by crashes.
