Concrete patching, road maintenance: PennDOT upcoming roadwork April 28, 2025

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has released its schedule for upcoming roadwork across Berks County. Several key highways will see construction, sweeping, and maintenance activities, with both daytime and nighttime restrictions expected to impact traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution and plan for possible delays.

Construction on Interstate 78 will take place between Exit 29 (PA 61) and Exit 30 (Hamburg), with lane restrictions in both directions during nighttime hours. The work will run from April 27 through May 1, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night. PennDOT has noted that rain will not cause delays to this project.

In Kutztown Borough, maintenance crews will be working on US 222 between Kempsville Road and Hilltop Road. While no formal restrictions are planned, drivers should expect delays during daytime hours from April 28 through May 2, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This work may be affected by rain.

Sweeping operations will occur along Interstate 78 in both directions from the Lebanon County Line to the Lehigh County Line. The moving operation will result in lane restrictions between April 28 and May 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and use caution as this work progresses through Bethel, Upper Tulpehocken, Upper Bern, Tilden, Windsor, and Greenwich Townships. Rain may cause interruptions.

Concrete patching will take place along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 78 between Exit 23 (Shartlesville) and Exit 29 (PA 61) in Tilden Township. Nighttime lane restrictions will be in effect from April 27 through May 1, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Rain is not expected to delay this work.

Construction is also scheduled along PA 100 between County Line Road and Niantic Road in Colebrookdale and Washington Townships. Lane restrictions will be in place in both directions during nighttime hours from April 27 to May 2, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. This project is not expected to be affected by rain.
