Nighttime lane restrictions on 78: PennDOT upcoming roadwork Sept. 9, 2024

PennDOT maintenance forces and private contractors have scheduled several construction projects in Berks County this week. To help our readers avoid travel delays, here are a few of the most notable projects.

In Ruscombmanor Township, utility work at the intersection of PA 12 and PA 73 will cause lane restrictions from September 9, 2024, to September 13, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Rain will not cause delays.

In Bethel Township, construction on Interstate 78 between Exit 23 (Shartlesville) and Exit 16 (Midway) will result in nighttime lane restrictions from September 8, 2024, to September 14, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and rain may cause delays.

In Cumru Borough, US 422 will have an eastbound lane restriction on September 11, 2024, and a westbound lane restriction on September 12, 2024, between Business Route 222/Bingaman Street and I-176. The restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

In Reading, US 422 will have a right lane closure eastbound on September 10, 2024, between Business US 222 and I-176, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

In Exeter Township, crack sealing will occur on US 422 between Neversink Road and Old Airport Road from September 9, 2024, to September 13, 2024. There will be no restrictions for this moving operation in the southbound direction, but caution is advised. The work will take place from 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM nightly, and rain may cause delays.

In various municipalities, US 222 will have lane closures in both directions with flagging between the Lancaster County Line and Old Topton Road from September 9, 2024, to September 13, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, and rain may cause delays.

In Greenwich Township, PA 737/Krumsville Road will have lane restrictions with flagging between PA 143 and Eagle Point Road from September 9, 2024, to September 11, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

In Maxatawny Township, Eagle Point Road will have lane restrictions with flagging between PA 737/Krumsville Road and the Lehigh County Line on September 12, 2024, and September 13, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Rain may cause delays.

In Bern Township, US 222 will have lane closures in both directions with flagging between the Spring Ridge Exit and Felix Dam Bridge from September 9, 2024, to September 13, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and rain may cause delays.

In Muhlenberg and Bern Townships, US 222 will have nighttime lane restrictions in both directions between the Spring Ridge Exit and PA 61 for paving from September 8, 2024, to September 13, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and rain may cause delays.

In Colebrookdale Township, PA 562 will have lane closures in both directions with flagging between Indian Spring Road and Mill Street from September 9, 2024, to September 13, 2024. The restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, and rain may cause delays.
