The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for Berks County, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, through 7 a.m. Thursday, November 6.
According to the NWS, northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts potentially reaching 50 to 60 mph overnight. The watch also includes neighboring counties such as Lehigh, Northampton, Upper Bucks, and western Montgomery in Pennsylvania.
Forecasters warn that the strong winds could cause tree and power line damage, leading to widespread power outages. Travel may also become hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, vans, and SUVs.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and monitor updated forecasts and warnings as the storm approaches. The watch may be upgraded to a warning if confidence increases that damaging winds will occur.
