West Reading Cancels Sanctioned Halloween Night Over Safety Concerns

West Reading officials have cancelled the municipalities annual 3-hour sanctioned trick-or-treat night for 2020 citing COVID-19 safety concerns.

The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon by Mayor Andrew Kearney. “The Borough of West Reading cares about your safety and your health” said Mayor Kearney in a statement.

Although the official event is cancelled, the Mayor is not stopping trick-or-treaters from walking around neighborhoods.

“If you decide to venture out to trick-or-treat in the Borough of West Reading or welcome trick-or-treaters at Halloween time, please practice the safety protocols we have been using since March of this year; sanitize, wear a mask and keep a safe distance.”
