In February, Art Plus Gallery in West Reading announced it was offering a county-wide college scholarship open to high school seniors going on to pursue a major or associate degree in the arts.

Art Plus Gallery recently named Marley Yambor as the recipient of the 2021 Art Plus Gallery Fine Art Scholarship. A student at Boyertown Area Senior High School, Yambor will be attending Savannah College of Art and Design where she will be pursuing a career in Animation.

The scholarship was valued at $500, to be applied to tuition, textbooks or other requisite course materials.

To be nominated, students applicants were required to be enrolled at the senior class level in a Berks County public, private, charter or home school, and display proven artistic ability in one or more of the following mediums: drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, fine craft, fine art photography or digital art media.

Applicants were also required to maintain a 3.0 GPA during the year and display proof of college acceptance as a visual arts and submit two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from an art teacher, and at least 10 images of their work.
