Berks Officials Discover CraigsList Post Undermining Election Integrity

Berks County officials say they have become aware of a fraudulent CraigsList post Thursday night claiming that the County is hiring individuals to create fake ballots.

“There is nothing about this post that is factually accurate” reads a statement from County officials.

“The County believes this is a hoax meant to intentionally taint the legitimacy of the county’s handling of the election.”

County officials contacted the phone numbers listed in the post and confirmed that the person’s phone number was listed without their knowledge.

Officials say the post has been reported to CraigsList as being fraudulent and the county intends to investigate further.

“The County has worked hard to protect the integrity of this election and has carefully followed the legal procedures for processing ballots.”

Officials added “the County has also gone to extra lengths to be transparent about the process, including regular updates to the public and having the pre-canvassing operations recorded for an extra security measure.”
