RACC Employee Winner of United Way Shopping Spree

On your mark, get set, go! Ruth Reinsel, an employee of Reading Area Community College, sprinted through the aisles of Redner’s Fresh Market Wednesday evening for three minutes in the annual United Way campaign incentive shopping spree.

Reinsel won the shopping spree incentive as part of United Way’s 2020 fundraising campaign.

Redner’s has hosted the event for eight years, where Reinsel had three minutes to run through the store, grab as many items as possible to fill a series of shopping carts.

The shopping spree began at 5:45pm with store customers cheering her on. Typically, the shopping spree winnings total nearly $1,000.

“It was exciting to hear I won the shopping spree. It’s generous of Redner’s to provide this, and I’m happy to support United Way’s work in the community,” said Reinsel. Donors are eligible to win the shopping spree campaign incentive by contributing $4.00 or more per week to the annual campaign.

Last year, nearly $11 million was raised to support community needs within United Way’s focus areas of education, financial stability, health and safety net services, as well as to tackle greater needs resulting from COVID.

The 2021 campaign launches in mid September. United Way annual program investments help more than 150,000 Berks Countians annually.
