Reading Public Library begins hot spot lending program

The Reading Public Library has added hot spots to their collection of free items available to borrow with a library card.

These devices, providing mobile internet connection, can be borrowed for a 4 to 6 week lending period. They are available at the Main Library and three RPL branches. Hot spots must be borrowed and returned to the same location.

According to Troy Bowers, Supervisor of Circulation Services, “These devices will provide patrons with portable WiFi that could be useful for travel as well as short term projects such as job searches and telemedicine. Many of our citizens have limited data plans that can be extended through the use of a library hotspot.”

Borrowers must be 18 years or older and a resident of Berks County in possession of a Berks County Library System Full Access library card. A signed agreement outlining hotspot policies is required at checkout.

To check availability, call 610.655.6350 ext. 221.
