An apartment fire in Mohnton displaced several residents Saturday night. The fire happened at 46 W. Wyomissing Ave in Mohnton Borough, approximately 11:21pm. The fire was initially reported as a couch on fire.
Mohnton Fire Company and multiple surrounding fire departments responded to the call. Fire crews encountered a fire in a living room of a second floor apartment. The fire was quickly contained and fire damage was limited to the apartment of origin.
According to State Police, a total of 4 apartments had to be evacuated and are currently displaced by the fire. 1 adult was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation of smoke inhalation.
No firefighters were injured fighting the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the PA State Police Troop L Fire Marshal Unit. Damage is estimated to be at least $200,000.
