The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Berks County late Friday night through Sunday morning. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
The Flood Watch area includes portions of northern New Jersey, including the following counties, Sussex and Warren and east central Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Berks, Lehigh and Northampton.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
Widespread heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is forecast from Friday night through Saturday evening with locally higher amounts possible. Excessive runoff may continue to cause rivers, creeks, and streams to rise through Sunday, even after the heavy rain has stopped.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
