The Borough of West Reading has announced a scheduled demolition project at 156 Penn Avenue, set to begin on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The project involves the removal of an apartment building that is currently in danger of collapsing.
The demolition work is expected to cause intermittent lane restrictions on the eastbound side of Penn Avenue. Initially, these restrictions will be infrequent as the building is systematically disassembled. However, as the project progresses and work moves closer to Penn Avenue, the likelihood of lane restrictions and periodic temporary road closures will increase.
Residents in the area may experience some disruptions, including noise, dust, and debris. The Borough assures the community that all necessary precautions will be taken to minimize the impact on the neighborhood.
