The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced additional changes at Blue Marsh Lake as part of ongoing operational adjustments for the 2025 recreation season.
Effective immediately, the small picnic area near the single-vehicle lot at the State Hill Boat Launch is closed for the remainder of the season. The closure comes in response to public health and safety concerns stemming from the misuse of the area by some visitors. The site remains open for launching non-powered watercraft only.
This closure adds to a list of previously announced service reductions due to staffing shortages, which remain in effect across Blue Marsh Lake facilities. These include limited hours and amenities at the Dry Brooks Day Use Area and restrictions at both the Dry Brooks and State Hill boat launches.
The Dry Brooks Day Use Area is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with swimming ending at 5 p.m. No new entries are allowed after 5 p.m., and picnic pavilions are available only on a first-come, first-served basis.
On weekends and holidays, the Dry Brooks and State Hill Boat Launches will close once they reach full capacity and will not reopen until after 5 p.m. The picnic area at the Dry Brooks Boat Launch remains closed for the season, though the ramp is still accessible for launching purposes.
Visitors may also experience reduced maintenance of trails and facilities, as well as fewer educational and outreach programs throughout the season.
Officials are urging parkgoers to respect all posted restrictions and closures to ensure continued public access to the facilities.
