Motorcyclist killed in crash on Penn Avenue in West Reading

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash involving a pickup truck at the intersection of Penn Avenue and South 2nd Avenue in West Reading, according to borough police.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 3:07 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious collision. Preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Penn Avenue when it crossed into the eastbound lane and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck.

The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Their identity has not been released, pending continued investigative efforts and out of respect for the family.

Penn Avenue was closed eastbound for an extended period to allow for accident reconstruction. Eastbound traffic was eventually rerouted through a single lane on the westbound side.

The incident remains under active investigation, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information to contact the West Reading Borough Police Department at 610-373-0111.
