The Borough of Wyomissing’s Department of Recreation invites the community to enjoy a night of wonder and discovery at the final Stargazing in the Parklands event of the season on Friday, September 12, at 8:30 p.m. The event will take place on the West Slope of the Parklands of Wyomissing, located just off Cambridge Avenue and Parkview Drive. Visitors are asked to park in the designated gravel area off Parkview and follow the trail through the gate up the hill.
This program is presented in collaboration with the Berks County Amateur Astronomical Society, whose members will provide telescopes and expert guidance to help participants explore the night sky. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe constellations, planets, and possibly even the Milky Way from one of the most scenic, low-light vantage points in the region.
“Stargazing is a chance for people of all ages to pause, look up, and appreciate the incredible beauty of the universe,” said Randy McKinley, Director of Recreation. “The Parklands offers the perfect setting to connect with the night sky and share in a moment of cosmic wonder with friends, family, and neighbors.”
Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating and to dress warmly as evening temperatures may be cooler. To enhance the experience and reduce light interference, red light flashlights are recommended for preserving night vision.
There are no rain dates scheduled for this program. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be shared through the Borough’s social media channels.
The Stargazing in the Parklands series has provided residents and visitors with a unique opportunity this year to gather outdoors, unplug, and enjoy the awe-inspiring sights of the night sky together.
