Original post: The Wyomissing Police Department announced Wednesday that one of the suspects wanted in connection with the August 12 shooting near The Works has turned himself in to authorities.
Police said 15-year-old Ethan Z. Arce surrendered on September 2 and was taken into custody. Arce has been arraigned and committed to Berks County Prison on $75,000 bail. He faces charges including robbery, aggravated assault, firearms violations, conspiracy, and related offenses.
Investigators continue to search for the second suspect, identified as 15-year-old Ethan S. Gonzalez. Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.
The charges stem from a shooting that injured a juvenile male near Bern Road last month. Police said the victim and two friends had just left The Works when they were approached by two individuals. During an altercation, the victim was shot in the leg. He was treated at the scene and transported to Reading Hospital, where he is expected to recover.
A large multi-agency search was launched following the shooting but the suspects were not immediately found. Both Arce and Gonzalez were later charged as adults due to the seriousness of the crime.
Police are urging anyone with information on Gonzalez’s whereabouts to call the Wyomissing Police Department at 610-375-6102. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Alert Berks at 877-373-9913.
