Cumru Township police seek help identifying suspect in bank fraud case

The Cumru Township Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man linked to a recent case of bank fraud and identity theft.

According to police, the incident occurred on August 22, 2025, when the suspect entered the First National Bank located at 606 E. Lancaster Avenue in Shillington. Investigators say the man impersonated a bank customer by presenting a counterfeit North Carolina ID card containing the victim’s personal information.

As a result of the fraudulent activity, police said the suspect was able to withdraw a substantial amount of money from the victim’s account.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Alert Berks County. Cash rewards are available up to $10,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
