PSP: 18-year-old Reading man arrested after high-speed chase on Warren Street Bypass

An 18-year-old Reading man was arrested early Wednesday morning after Pennsylvania State Police say he led troopers on a high-speed chase that reached more than 100 miles per hour.

According to PSP Reading, the incident occurred on September 17, 2025, around 1:08 a.m. Troopers observed a white 2011 BMW 328i sedan traveling at 107 mph in a 45 mph zone on State Route 12 near Schuylkill Avenue in Reading. The vehicle was also unable to maintain its lane of travel.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop at the intersection of SR 12 and SR 61 in Muhlenberg Township, but police say the driver initially slowed before accelerating again in an attempt to flee. The BMW then took an off-ramp from SR 12 to N. 11th Street.

As the vehicle negotiated a turn, troopers performed a PIT maneuver, disabling the car. The driver was taken into custody at the scene. He faces charges including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, suspicion of DUI, and multiple traffic offenses.

A 19-year-old male passenger from Wyomissing was also detained but later released on scene.
