Reading’s iconic Pagoda is glowing once again after a successful exterior lighting test Monday evening, marking a key step forward in the city’s ongoing renovation efforts.
City officials confirmed that the test validated the new electrical components and lighting fixtures installed as part of the broader restoration and modernization project. Following the successful results, Mayor Eddie Morán directed that the Pagoda remain illuminated as work continues.
“Our Pagoda stands as one of Reading’s greatest symbols, and seeing it lit once again is a moment of pride for our entire community,” Mayor Morán said. “This successful test brings us one step closer to fully restoring this treasured landmark. I want to thank our Public Works staff, contractors, and everyone involved for their continued dedication to this project.”

The city noted that additional updates will be shared as further phases of the renovation move ahead. Upcoming improvements will focus on structural integrity, accessibility enhancements, and long-term preservation of the historic structure.
