City of Reading announces the return of Pagoda’s Christmas Eve blinking tradition

The City of Reading has announced that the Pagoda lights will blink again this Christmas Eve, for the first time since 2021.

The Pagoda’s restoration is nearly complete, with Dolan Construction, the Warko Group, and Hirneisen Electric working since April to keep the project on schedule for the new year. The red lights are shining again, and on Wednesday, December 24 at 9:00 p.m., the City, in partnership with the Pagoda Foundation, will continue the tradition of blinking the Pagoda to signal to children across Reading and Berks that Santa Claus knows they are fast asleep and ready for his visit.

“The Pagoda is a symbol of pride for our city,” said Mayor Eddie Morán. “Bringing back the Christmas Eve blinking lights is a moment our community has been waiting for. It’s a small but magical tradition that families of all ages can enjoy, and I’m thrilled it’s back this year.”

The Pagoda gates will remain closed for the evening, so residents are encouraged to enjoy the lights from the comfort of their homes, porches, or favorite neighborhood spots.
