State police report DUI enforcement results from increased patrols in northern Berks

Pennsylvania State Police at Troop L, Hamburg, reported the results of increased DUI enforcement conducted over the weekend as part of an ongoing effort to reduce alcohol- and drug-related crashes across the Commonwealth.

According to state police, troopers from the Hamburg Station conducted enhanced DUI patrols that included a sobriety checkpoint. The enforcement detail focused on identifying drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

During the operation, troopers made contact with 25 motorists. One driver was arrested for driving under the influence involving alcohol and/or drugs. Police reported that no arrests were made for drug possession or paraphernalia, underage drinking, or outstanding warrants.

In addition to the DUI arrest, troopers issued two traffic citations and 23 traffic warnings.

State police said the enforcement effort reflects their continued commitment to improving roadway safety and preventing impaired driving-related injuries and fatalities throughout Pennsylvania.
