The Conrad Weiser Theatre Company will bring a well-known musical to the local stage this spring as it presents Les Misérables: School Edition at Conrad Weiser High School.
The production will run from April 17 through April 19, 2026, inside the school’s newly renovated auditorium, which organizers say will be transformed into 19th-century France for the performances.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Misérables follows Jean Valjean, a former prisoner seeking redemption while being pursued by Inspector Javert. The school edition maintains the core elements of the original musical, including songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” and “One Day More.”
Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 in advance, with limited tickets available at the door for $12. Tickets can be purchased online at cwtheatreco.org or by calling the box office at 610-693-8542 ext. 6654.
In addition to the performances, the theatre company is launching a community outreach effort titled “Beyond the Barricade.” Local social service organizations will be invited to share information and resources with audience members in the lobby during intermission and after each show. Organizers said the initiative is designed to connect the themes of the musical — including compassion and social justice — with real-world support for residents in the Conrad Weiser Area School District and Berks County.
The production includes mature themes such as loss of life, historical conflict, poverty, and emotional intensity. It will also feature theatrical effects including smoke, lighting, and loud sound effects such as simulated gunfire. Audience discretion is advised, and a full content advisory is available on the theatre company’s website.
The show is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
