Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg Barracks reported that a blue Volvo tractor-trailer had been stopped on the shoulder. The 33-year-old male operator was outside the vehicle, securing straps on the flatbed trailer, when he was struck by another truck traveling in the right lane.

The striking vehicle did not stop and continued eastbound following the crash.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Based on evidence collected, investigators believe the striking vehicle is a white truck, possibly a tractor-trailer, with heavy to moderate damage to the passenger side. The vehicle is expected to be missing its passenger-side mirror and metal mirror frame.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Trooper Ryan Zimmerman at the Hamburg barracks at 610-562-6885.
