Titus Station redevelopment project in Berks County planned as AI infrastructure campus

Titus Development Company announced a new agreement aimed at transforming the former Titus Station power plant site in Berks County into a large-scale artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure campus.

According to the company, Titus Development has entered into a strategic agreement with Go Energy Group, a developer and operator of AI and digital infrastructure projects, to develop what is being called the TRON USA AI Campus at the former Titus Station property.

The redevelopment project is planned for approximately 196 acres adjacent to the City of Reading. The site, which once operated as a coal-fired power plant before being decommissioned in 2014, is being repositioned as a hub for artificial intelligence computing, cloud services, hyperscale data infrastructure, and future energy generation.

Officials said the initial phase of the project is expected to include a 200-megawatt AI data center campus located within the northeastern United States digital corridor connecting Philadelphia, New York, and other major metropolitan areas through existing fiber infrastructure.

Developers cited several factors behind the selection of the Titus Station property, including existing industrial zoning, ongoing data center zoning approvals, high-capacity electrical infrastructure, regional transmission access, fiber connectivity, water availability for cooling systems, and proximity to major East Coast markets.

The company said the site has undergone several years of redevelopment planning and due diligence efforts, including environmental studies, infrastructure planning, utility coordination, interconnection evaluations, grant-related activities, and local approvals.

“This project represents the next chapter for the Titus Station property and demonstrates how legacy energy infrastructure sites can be transformed into modern economic engines supporting the future of artificial intelligence and advanced computing,” said Joseph D’Ascenzo, chairman of Titus Development Company.

D’Ascenzo added that the site’s location, infrastructure, and regional connectivity position Berks County to become “an important hub for next-generation digital infrastructure development.”

The broader redevelopment plan also includes the potential for future on-site energy generation capabilities intended to support long-term growth in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing demand.

Go Energy Group said it continues to develop AI infrastructure projects across the United States, Europe, and Latin America focused on energy-efficient platforms for artificial intelligence and hyperscale computing.

Additional details regarding investment amounts, construction timelines, engineering plans, and future phases of the project are expected to be announced after final development and interconnection procedures are completed.
