Albany Township man dies after riding mower accident in Maidencreek Township

A 69-year-old Albany Township man has died from injuries sustained in a riding lawn mower accident earlier this week in Maidencreek Township, according to the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

Berks County Coroner Matthew J. Stitzel identified the man as Jeffrey Brobst, of the 1300 block of Hawk Mountain Road in Albany Township.

According to the coroner, the accident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, while Brobst was operating a riding lawn mower and cutting grass at a property in the 100 block of Hecktown Road in Maidencreek Township. Investigators determined the mower went over a retaining wall.

Brobst was transported by Northern Berks EMS to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:46 p.m.

The Berks County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was craniocerebral injuries. His death was ruled accidental.

The Northern Berks Regional Police Department assisted the Berks County Coroner’s Office with the investigation.
