1st Street Players continues its “Homecoming Season” with a performance of Circle Mirror Transformation, a drama by award-winning playwright Annie Baker.
Set in the small town of Shirley, Vermont, Circle Mirror Transformation tells the story of 5 lost adults who come together in a six-week creative drama course at a community center.
Each week, the group participates in a series of acting exercises; each week, they learn more about themselves and each other. Funny, insightful, and heartbreaking, this Obie Award-winning play is a wonderful exploration of love, loss, connection, and the power of theater.
Director Alicia Brisbois loves the elegant simplicity of the script and the story. “The characters, in practicing basic acting exercises, learn to be present in their own lives- whatever outcome that may bring.”
Artistic Director Andrea Hart hopes this piece will expand audiences’ ideas about what theater can do and what theater can be. “I love this play because it isn’t like anything we’ve done before. The journey of each character is subtle but spectacular.”
Performances are March 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12th at 7pm at 301 E. 1st Street, Birdsboro, PA. The cost is $20 for adults; $10 for students.
All of the seating is general admission, and the March 10th show will be a sensory-friendly performance. Lighting and sound levels will be adjusted to accommodate patrons with sensory sensitivities.
