“With this contest, we hope to promote the goulash times of the Halloween season. The top winners in each category will win gift cards to local businesses. All contestants must live in Muhlenberg Township or Laureldale Borough” reads a statement from the Township.

The Township may be divided into zones if the number of entries is high. All decorating must be done by the homeowner, not a professional decorator. Entry deadline is October 19 at 12 noon and judging is on Tuesday, October 20 from 6:30 to 9PM.

Categories include the Most Whimsical/Creative, Most Holiday Spirit, Most Haunting and Fall/Harvest display. It is encouraged that you register online at https://secure.rec1.com/PA/muhlenberg-township-pa/catalog.

Winners will be notified by October 22 and a photo of the winning home will be posted on the Township website.

Trunk or Treat

With Covid cancelling most of the fall activities for children, the Muhlenberg Parks & Recreation Department is planning a Trunk or Treat to give children the opportunity to collect candy and treats in a different way.

Come have some fun by decorating the trunk of your vehicle and gather at Jim Dietrich Park on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 8pm to disperse candy or other treats to the children of the Muhlenberg Community.

Families and businesses that love the Halloween season are invited to show up and decorate a vehicle. According to Township officials, there is no cost to display your car. Cars will be spaced throughout the parking lot to accommodate social distancing. Limit to 45 candy distribution vehicles.

Trick or Treaters should be costumed and will stay within the car as they cruise slowly around the parking lot to collect the treats at each trunk. Those handing out treats must be masked and wearing gloves.

Prizes will be given to the best decorated vehicle in each category. Registration of your vehicle is a must and can be done at https://secure.rec1.com/PA/muhlenberg-township-pa/catalog, and the deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 19th.

No need to register if you are just going to be driving through with the kids.
