Brentwood extends global reach and capabilities with acquisition of European company

Brentwood, a plastics manufacturing company headquartered in Spring Township, has announced its acquisition of Enexio Water Technologies, a German-based plastics producer. Made official on January 3, 2022, the acquisition provides increased worldwide sales and engineering presence, added capabilities, and new areas of expertise for Brentwood.

“It’s been really gratifying to see our company grow over the years,” says Peter Rye, Brentwood’s President and CEO. “When my parents purchased Brentwood in 1975, they had only a few machines and about 35 employees.”

What began as a small plastics business evolved into a global corporation with world class-facilities, including six domestic sites and four international operations.

The Enexio Water Technologies acquisition brings Brentwood’s total employee count to roughly 800 and adds to the company’s global footprint with a manufacturing and sales office in Germany, a sales office in England, an assembly operation in the Czech Republic, and a joint venture manufacturing plant in China.

“The acquisition solidifies our position in Europe, providing a platform for us to introduce new products to that market,” Rye says.

It also enables business in China and adds new capabilities and areas of expertise. Brentwood has long been an expert in thermoforming polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and now gains the competency of polypropylene (PP) processing. Additionally, the acquisition enables Brentwood to gain expertise in the mass transfer industry, a vertical where Enexio Water Technologies has been a leader for decades.

The integration of these two plastics producers are expected to propel the growth of Brentwood’s existing products and systems, as well. Combined, Brentwood and Enexio Water Technologies employees have hundreds of years of experience in cooling tower technology and water/wastewater treatment.

Brentwood intends to retain its three local facilities in Reading and Spring Township, along with its other existing operations. The company is proud of its Reading roots and dedicated to providing high-quality jobs for the community.
