GRCA Calls for Bipartisan Task Force to Lead PA Reopening Efforts

Jim Gerlach, Greater Reading Chamber Alliance CEO & President, is calling on Gov. Tom Wolf to quickly form a bipartisan task force to address the state’s reopening plan. As the plan stands now, and with the May 8 deadline quickly approaching, there are far too many unanswered questions.

“While Gov. Wolf has a good start to the plan, it is going to take input from multiple organizations and individuals to really tackle this complex, public health matter,” Gerlach said.

Gerlach says the task force should be made up of leaders in business, labor, health care and emergency response along with representation from local, state and federal leadership so that the process can be based on both science and regional circumstances.

While GRCA is partnering with local and statewide organizations who are taking on similar work, there is still much to be done. The Wolf administration should take the lead on coordinating communications between these organizations.

GRCA looks forward to the day Pennsylvania can reopen and begin the important recovery efforts. However, many initiatives will need to be implemented in the near future; initiatives that will be best implemented with this bipartisan task force.
