3 injured following 2 shootings, Reading Police investigating

The Reading Police Department is investigating two shootings Sunday night, October 30, 2022, that has left 3 people hospitalized.

The first took place around 8:31pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 8th Street and Penn Street for multiple shooting victims.

On arrival officers located a 28-year-old male victim, with several gunshot wounds to the abdomen/torso/leg areas. He was transported to the hospital via EMS.

Crime scene tape was placed at a loading dock area behind the building of 800 Penn Street.

A second victim, 22-year-old male, had been seen/reported riding away in a bicycle was located in the 200 block of Gem Alley. He had a gunshot wound to the left hip. Due to EMS not being able to locate the units with Victim 2, he was transported by police to the hospital.

“Based on statements and video footage collected, The victims were standing at the incident location. A third, unidentified, male approaches them and shoots in their direction (after a brief exchange). Both victims are currently stable” said a Reading police press release. “No danger to general public at this time.”

The second incident took place around 8:56pm as officers were dispatched to the area of 542 South Court (Glenside Homes), for a 29-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the mouth. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with a single non-life threatening gunshot would.

Investigators say there was a fight in the block relative to a neighbor dispute.

The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS and is currently in stable condition.

Police added that they do not believe there is a danger to the general public at this time.
