A Reading man is accused of trafficking heroin and fentanyl out of his home in Southeast Reading, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
In July of 2022, Berks County Detectives say they received information from confidential sources, regarding suspected illegal drug activity by 43-year-old Eduardo Martinez in the 900 block Court Street Reading.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Martinez was a “street-level” to “mid-level” drug trafficker distributing heroin / fentanyl within Berks County. Additionally, detectives identified that Martinez was utilizing his residence as his base of operations.
On August 23, 2022, Berks County Common Pleas Judge authorized search warrants for his residence and a vehicle. The next day, law enforcement from Berks County Emergency Response Team, Berks County Drug Task Force and City of Reading Police Department served the search warrant. Once inside the residence, Martinez was located and detained without incident.
Investigators say a search of the residence and the vehicle revealed the following items of evidence: Four hundred twelve packets of suspected heroin / fentanyl (street value $2,060.00). Two bags containing suspected “crack” cocaine (street value $100.00). A stock of ammunition. Drug paraphernalia associated with distribution.
Martinez was charged with possession with the intent to deliver (heroin / fentanyl), possession of a controlled substance (heroin / fentanyl) and possession of Drug Paraphernalia and
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and Eduardo Martinez is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
